Bones and joints are structures we usually only think about when they start causing problems. Meanwhile, proper nutrition and supplementation have a preventative purpose – especially for physically active individuals, the elderly, and those whose diet may not provide sufficient amounts of key nutrients. However, knowledge of what actually works is crucial here, as the "joint supplements" market is saturated with products of very varied effectiveness.
What bones and joints need
Calcium and vitamin D3 are the foundations of bone health. Calcium is the main mineral component of bone tissue, and vitamin D3 is essential for its absorption in the intestines. Without adequate levels of D3, even a high intake of calcium in the diet does not translate into effective bone mineralization.
Vitamin K2 (MK-7) directs calcium absorbed thanks to D3 exactly where it should go – to the bones – and not to the blood vessels. This mechanism is important for both bone mineral density and cardiovascular health. D3 and K2 form a functional duo that is worth using together.
Vitamin C is a cofactor in collagen synthesis – a protein that forms the scaffold for articular cartilage and bone matrix. Its role in connective tissue health is well documented.
Collagen – especially hydrolyzed marine collagen – is sometimes used as a supplement directly supplying amino acids for cartilage regeneration, although research on the effectiveness of this form is still ongoing.
Boswellia (Boswellia serrata, frankincense) is a plant with documented anti-inflammatory properties, traditionally used for joint ailments. Boswellic acids inhibit enzymes involved in inflammatory processes, which can alleviate joint pain and stiffness.
Turmeric with piperine is another combination with confirmed anti-inflammatory effects. Curcumin – the active ingredient in turmeric – has very poor bioavailability on its own, but the addition of piperine (from black pepper) significantly increases it.

Skarby Gai is an interesting choice for those looking for natural vitamin C – L-ascorbic acid obtained from cabbage, available in large packages (100 g, 270 g, 450 g), which makes it an economical option for regular use. Polska Róża offers a similar form – liquid vitamin C – in the form of rosehip fruit juice.
Medica Herbs complements the offer with marine collagen and turmeric with piperine – a combination particularly popular among people with chronic joint inflammation.
For external use, Comfrey Oil from Tyma Herbs is available – comfrey is traditionally used externally for muscle and joint pain.
Herbapol Kraków has two herbal products in this category: Do Dna z Podagrycznikiem (capsules and fix tea) – preparations traditionally used for elevated uric acid levels and gout ailments.
Supplements from this category often complement products from the vitamins and minerals section, where you will find a fuller selection of calcium, vitamin D3 and K2. For physical activity, it is also worth checking out the energy and vitality section.
