In 2000, a small organic shop called "Dary Natury Żywność Ekologiczna" (Ecological Food Gifts ) opened in a tenement building in Krakow's Kazimierz district. At that time, few people paid attention to their diets and the food they bought. Organic food was also in its infancy in Poland, and few farms produced certified organic products. Poland's accession to the European Union significantly accelerated the development of organic farming.
