These factors led to the development of settlement and agriculture in the Middle Ages. The oldest mention of an oil mill in Głubczyce dates back to 1448. These were primarily rural establishments, often located next to mills that produced oil for local residents. Until the late 19th century, linseed oil was primarily produced here. Flax was also used for textile production, with the oil and weaving industries working together to develop the region's economy.
In the 1950s, rapeseed began to be cultivated in the fields. It largely replaced flax, but the cold-pressed method remained. The flavor of Głubczyce Oil is mild, aromatic, and distinctive.
