Description

Siberian Cedar Oil for drinking (food supplement) 100 ml - Pro Aktiv

Siberian cedar oil is a cold-pressed vegetable oil obtained from the nuts of the Siberian pine (Pinus sibirica), popularly known as the Siberian cedar. It comes from raw material collected in Siberia, is unrefined and not chemically extracted.

What is Siberian pine nut oil?

Despite the common name "cedar oil", this product does not come from botanical cedar (Cedrus sp.), but from Siberian pine (Pinus sibirica). Siberian pine nuts have been valued in Siberian culinary and herbal traditions for centuries. Cold-pressed oil preserves the natural fatty acid profile and accompanying compounds present in the raw material.

Composition and fatty acid profile

Pinus sibirica oil is distinguished by its complex fatty acid profile. It is dominated by polyunsaturated fatty acids:

  • Linoleic acid (omega-6, C18:2) – approx. 44.4 g/100 g
  • Linolenic acid (omega-3, C18:3) – approx. 20.1 g/100 g
  • Oleic acid (omega-9, C18:1) – approx. 23.7 g/100 g

The oil also contains saturated acids: palmitic (C16:0, approx. 4.2 g/100 g) and stearic (C18:0, approx. 2.7 g/100 g).

A characteristic feature of oils from the Pinus sibirica species is the presence of pinolenic acid (C18:3 delta-5-isomer), a rare component found almost exclusively in pine nut oils.

Vitamin E

The oil contains naturally occurring vitamin E (tocopherols). Vitamin E helps protect cells from oxidative stress.

Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids – nutritional context

Linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3) are essential unsaturated fatty acids (EFAs) that the human body cannot synthesize on its own – they must be supplied through diet. Linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid are essential for the proper functioning of the body.

How to use Siberian cedar oil?

The oil is suitable for direct consumption or as an additive to unheated dishes – salads, spreads, dressings. Due to its polyunsaturated fatty acid content, it is not intended for frying or heating at high temperatures, as PUFAs are sensitive to heat and oxidation.
