The Story of La Corvette
The company's history dates back to 1894, when the Savonnerie du Midi was founded in Marseille – one of the last historic Marseille soap factories to preserve the recipe and know-how of traditional soapmaking. The name La Corvette was given to the brand in 1924 by Myron Scott, assistant director of public relations at GM, who was inspired by the small and agile warship.
La Corvette is a member of the Marseille Soap Producers Association, which guarantees the composition and quality of its traditional soap. In 2020, La Corvette received the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Enterprise) certification, awarded by the French Ministry of Economy and Finance to companies that maintain traditional craftsmanship at an excellent level.
