Where does the name “ceremonial” come from?
The name "ceremonial" refers to the long history of cocoa. The oldest records of cocoa date back to ancient times in Central and South America. The Mayan and Aztec tribes there considered cocoa a special, divine beverage. They prepared a rich, dark-colored drink from fermented cocoa beans, cornmeal, honey, and chili peppers.
Ceremonial cocoa was used during official ceremonies, religious rituals, feasts and festivals, as funeral offerings, and for medicinal purposes. The valuable cocoa beans were also used as currency.

Cocoa – the drink of the ancient Mayans
The Spanish introduced cocoa to Europe after their conquest of the Americas. As an oriental and very expensive product, it was primarily consumed at royal courts. Over time, cocoa became widespread throughout Europe, and when a cheap method for producing chocolate was invented in the 19th century, the product became much more accessible to the public.
Although the Aztec and Mayan empires have been extinct for hundreds of years, the cocoa ceremony continues. The rich beverage made from ceremonial cocoa has a deep and intense flavor. It improves mood, relaxes, and nourishes . It's a great way to end the day – a cup of delicious cocoa will help you unwind after a long day.

Michał Depta ‒ author of Real Cocoa
Michał Depta acquired his cocoa-related knowledge and skills in Central and South America. It was in these regions that cocoa was originally used, and not just for food.
He used the skills he acquired in America to popularize cocoa drinking in Asia and the South Pacific, where he later traveled. After returning to Poland, Michał Depta founded the First Polish Manufactory of Real Cocoa, where he creates products based on 10 years of experience.
