Rapeseed honey from the Maja apiary in West Pomerania. It is produced by bees from the nectar of rapeseed flowers ( Fagopyrum sagittatum ). This plant has long been known as a valuable honey plant. Rapeseed is one of the most popular crops in Poland, blooming at the turn of April and May.
Natural rapeseed honey has a slightly pungent flavor and a delicate rapeseed flower aroma. Some people may find it too intense or bitter, but others enjoy it very much. It has a light, straw color when liquid. After crystallization, it becomes creamy or white. It is one of the lightest honeys in Poland.
Rapeseed honey contains many nutrients, such as potassium, magnesium, cobalt, iron, calcium, sodium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, vitamin C, vitamin PP, B vitamins, flavonoids, tannins, and trace elements. It is also rich in enzymes and essential oils, which give it its characteristic aroma and flavor.
Rapeseed honey has many medicinal properties. It helps relieve colds and sore throats thanks to its antibiotic properties and immune-stimulating properties. It has a beneficial effect on the digestive system, prevents urinary tract infections and kidney disease, and contributes to maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. Additionally, creamed rapeseed honey can cleanse and protect the liver.
When used externally, it helps heal wounds and skin damage.
